Staff Data Scientist

Taylor is a Staff Data Scientist based in Alloy’s DC office.
Taylor has over a decade of experience in political data, beginning with Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential run and including stops along the way at ACT, Activate, Catalist, America Votes, and Civis Analytics. More recently, he took a sabbatical from politics to build and lead the data science team at Optoro, a DC-based start-up that helps retailers and brands reduce waste by finding the best home for returned and excess inventory.
Taylor’s work focuses on creating simple solutions out of novel approaches, and in the past has included everything from traditional machine learning to psychometrics and natural language processing. Outside of work he tries to spend as much time as possible outside. He also enjoys tinkering with mechanical and IoT stuff (not always successfully) and playing many different musical instruments (not always successfully).
